    Spring has Sprung (somewhere)

March has been colder and snowier than February here on Cape Cod. My first wedding of 2018 was back in January on the ice flows of Cape Cod Bay. One of my other favorite winter weddings was for this couple below, Miranda and Michael, some years ago now. In this photo by Julia Cumes there is snow on the tidal flats but you really can't tell. But Spring has sprung somewhere and the season will soon be upon us. If you are engaged and would like to talk with me give me a call or email. We can see if this soulful wedding interfaith minister is the right person to preside over your nuptials! In the meantime, enjoy being totally engaged!.

Happy New Year - Hello 2017

Hello to all you happy couples who may have said yes to a proposal recently. Would love to hear from you and see what we can do now that you have mutually decided to say, "I do."

Such an exciting time. Savor every moment of being totally engaged. Do try and enjoy the process of picking your celebrant, your venue,... your day is yours so don't let it become a chore!

Now for a few of favorites though each and every one of my couples are a favorite in their own way!

When the officiant gets moved by the vows being shared you know they are "WOW VOWS!" Two teachers in love, Caitie and Justin, did not hold back as they vowed to each other at Chequessett Yacht and Beach Club in Wellfleet this past summer. Laughter and tears and lots and lots of love!

Such a loving family wedding at Borsari Gallery in Dennis. The children were a dream and what a gorgeous happy couple!

Weddings on Cape Cod: Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall......

The Prowers Pretty Little Winter Wedding at Chatham Bars Inn

The winter wind has abated. It's breath warmng even though the branches are still bare and will remain so until well after any threat of snow. Most springs on Cape Cod the winter holds on tenaciously. This has been a gentle fallow season. It seems like life itself is percolating right beneath our feet; earth softening;crocuses peaking. We all say, "Yes!"

Ceremonies in draft form like seedlings sprouting line my desktop. Today I will print out one so it takes form. Onto pretty paper words will form. The paper is from Thompson's Printing a local business in Orleans. One ream is called 'Blooming Pink' the other entitled, 'Botanical.'

Weddings are about beauty. Close to Summer Solstice, Sarah and Justin wed at Wequassett Resort on Round Cove.

And wedding ceremonies are about words of truth and fidelity.

The Meaning of Marriage- Wendell Berry The meaning of marriage begins by giving our word. We cannot join ourselves to one another without giving our word….

Consent:   Have you come here today of your own free will to give each other your word in Marriage?    “We Have.”  Please turn and take each other’s hands and share the vows of marriage.

A marriage of words and images, symbols and rituals that make the ancient rite of marriage like the rite of spring; a testimony of hope and love that renews and transfoms everything it touches

"For love is matchless in majesty, it has no parallel in power and there is no darkness it cannot dispel."

    Meher Baba

Happy New Moon Eclipse and St. Patrick's Day.  Enjoy these last days of winter before the busy as a bee days of Spring sweep in.

This Cape Cod Wedding Celebrant reflects on 2015

It has been a sweetly sincere ceremony season. I've enjoyed presiding over

low key weddings that leave everyone on a high note.

"To be natural "as John O'Donohue says, "is to be holy.  I'm loving the authenticity of the couples who seek my services for weddings and later for baby blessings. So what is this quality of being authentic? I see it in my couples who talk to me not only about their wedding but their hopes for a contented married life.

As for me I hope I am congruent and authentic in my approach to presiding over weddings. I can authentically claim to be both rustic and vintage- more and more so with each passing year. With great gratitude I come from a place of contentment after 27 years of marriage. When I get impatient with my husband he reminds me of my own words of wedding wisdom. And to be totally honest somedays I think about what I gave my word to 27 years ago. Giving your word to each other is the heart and soul of a ceremony. As Wendell Berry reminds us. "The meaning of marriage begins with the giving of our word...."

So stay true to yourself and to one another. Allow yourself to be content and grateful as I am to all of you for making 2015 such a wonderful wedding season.

Remember: Don't Worry. Be Married and

                                                       THANK YOU
