Happy New Year- A big week for Proposals

Hello young lovers wherever you are-

Happy New Year! The newly engaged are beginning to contact me filling me with the sweet tidings for the New Year of Weddings. My husband proposed to me on top the Empire State Building 25 years ago (actually in March but it felt  like New Years Eve to me.)

I already had one couple come see me on New Year's Eve who had just become engaged a week before on Christmas Eve. Thanks to Ed Maas at the Orleans Inn they had already secured their venue, their flowers, a DJ and 'moi' as their Officiant. I was so inspired after they left , I worked on their ceremony , including the Inn Rules ( which hang on the wall in the lobby of the Orleans Inn) and sent off a draft of their September Wedding. This couple's sweet enthusiasm was delightfully contagious!

                                                                             Inn Rules

    Always be honest-

     Bear each other’s burdens-

     Be Kind and Tender Hearted

     Comfort one another

     Keep Your Promises

      Be True to Each Other

     Look after each other

Treat each other like you treat your friends

     But most of important

                                                          Love one another

                                                      Deeply from the Heart

Autumn Weddings with rustic elegance and cozy charm

This Cape Cod Wedding Officiant loves this time of year to preside over Autumn Nuptials. The colors in this sunset at Asha and Marissa's wedding embody the bronze and russetts of light's ebb; the song of September and October on Cape Cod.

Here is a link to an article written about Bethany and Scott's wedding on 11/11/11.

Yesterday, the first day of Autumn, Marie and Michael , wed at the Bosari Gallery.  It was their moment and every detail was so beautifully attended to by not only Kathy, Bob and Tabitha at the Bosari Gallery but the groom's mother, Susan. From the rustic charm of the gallery itself to stunning beauty of the slender bride and the tears that came during the cermony ; a testimony to the couple's sincerity and dedication to one another- it was a spectacular day.

I don't have pictures yet for Marie and Michael but I did post a photo from last year in March when Karen and Peter wed at Bosari Gallery.

This is the second time I've done a wedding at Bosari and the clouds have parted and th sun has come shining through as the cermony was underway.

Here is a reading that really got to the heart of Marie and Michael's marriage matter.

And TODAY I MARRY MY FRIEND, by Bertrand Russell

    "Today I marry my friend
The one I have laughed with and cried with,
The one I have learned from and shared with,
The one I have chosen to support, encourage and give myself to
    Through all the days given us to share;
Today I marry the one I love.

    The Essence of Marriage

The Ravens wed on a blustery March 28th, making their fireside vows all the more intimate and cozy.

'Monogamy' now there's a word you don't hear much about anymore: Not even in the wedding biz.

"It's pertinent to the situation" we all decided, as Rachel and Alex said their " I do's" and used this word as a promise to be true.

The Meaning of Marriage by Wendell Berry

The meaning of marriage begins with the giving of words. We cannot join ourselves to one another without giving our word.

In giving our word to one another we " promise to stay connected and faithful in body, mind and spirit." That is how another couple put it when asked what commitment meant to them.

In these times when many couples live together before marrying, this commitment to be faithful is even more pertinent. Now you are not just sharing a house, you are creating a home.

It is a powerful promise, this giving your word to be true, to the one you cherish above all others.

"I plight thee my troth" alas....at last, what a blessed relief.

(This reflection was inspired by The Ravens: Rachel and Alex, Anna and Will and the self- proclaimed  'Internationally Unknown Poet'- Thomas Lynch.)
